Data Science Job Sites!! (including entry- levels)

08/21/2019

Hey everyone! Hope all is well. Dedicating this post to all my fellow Data Scientists looking for jobs; whether you're a veteran in the field, or someone looking to change careers and has spent time studying MOOC coursework. Each of these sites comes with their own advantages and I will do my best to examine each.

Sitelist:

1. Angel.co : AngelList is a relatively new website that focuses heavily on positions for Startup companies. The interface is very simple and user friendly. Once you make your required profile, you can proceed to sending your application thousands of different positions in seconds. You can narrow your search with various options; Location, Role, Compensation/benefits, and whether the position is remote.

2. Builtinnyc.com : Built in Nyc, is exactly what it sounds like; a platform designed specifically for positions in New York City. Their home page even describes themselves as "the hub for NYC startups + tech". User Interface is colorful yet pretty simple. What I like most about this site is that you can narrow the position by various fields including but not limited to: Web Development, Marketing, Operations and Analytics. What makes this site stand out the most is that it occasionally adds articles about the current best companies to work for in the city, and provides details about the benefits that accompany each one.

3. LinkedIn : Although this may seem like an obvious choice, LinkedIn is definitely one of the most common platforms recruiters use to search for potential candidates. However, you will definitely need to have a profile that stands out if you're looking to be aggressive towards finding work. A few tips I can give you are: A) Make sure your profile picture (and even the header) are professional and demonstrate the kind of position you're going for, B) be sure to add every single one of your skills in the site's skills section. The way LinkedIn works for recruiters is simple; they type in the list of skills they're looking for, and LinkedIn's algorithm will provide them results with users' profiles which include the skills they desire. Therefore, having a detailed 'skills' section on your profile is CRITICAL.

There are definitely other websites to consider when looking for jobs in the various fields of Data, but I believe these 3 are the most professional and likely choices to help you find work.

P.S. steer clear from other job sites that are actually scams!
